SAMUI ELEPHANT HAVEN IS A SANCTUARY ON KOH SAMUI FOR RESCUED ELEPHANTS
The Haven is a beautiful and ethical sanctuary for elephants rescued from types of elephant exploitation practices including trekking, performing in circuses, logging, and street begging.
Lush Koh Samui jungles envelop our sanctuary which sits proudly atop undulating hills and commands impressive views over the Gulf of Thailand and Koh Phangan. We provide a safe home to a remarkable herd of rescued elephants.
Founder of Samui Elephant Haven, Maew Suriya, ensures that the rescued elephants are now free to roam through the haven and can express their natural instincts through play and interaction by foraging for native plants and bathing in the various pools throughout the 60 rai sanctuary.
Visitors choosing the Haven will have meaningful encounters with these magnificent elephants, and learn about their individual histories and traits while supporting ethical tourism. Guests will also have the opportunity of meeting a herd of beautiful cows, some clucking chickens, and the Haven’s rescue dogs.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT SAMUI ELEPHANT HAVEN
The most amazing experience
Elephants are one of my favourite animals. So getting to not only meet and feed these gentle giants but knowing I was supporting a cause working to end the cruelty these endure for tourism was a dream. No treks, no forced bathing, no chains or violence. Just open spaces and a lot of bananas. Please consider this ethical experience if you are thinking of visiting elephants.

Incredible
This place was so incredible! The staff treated their elephants so well and you could tell how much they really care for the elephants. I had an amazing time meeting all of the elephants and the guides did an incredible job telling us their stories. If you are looking for an ethical experience with elephants, then this is the place for you!

Absolutely loved it!
I was perhaps a bit sceptical — how good could it be? But we were totally blown away. It was truly transformative. It is incredible to see the elephants up close, feed them, pet them and learn about them. The guides are very knowledgeable and give you all the background about how logging and riding and training has hurt these creatures. Not to mention the lunch at the end is delicious! Highly recommend!
